...their Arabic translation. This inventory has remained a desideratum since Georg Graf first drew attention to the wide range of works by Jacques in Arabic. The author has identified 98 authentic pieces, discovered 13 unpublished and uncertain pieces as well as 9 pieces falsely attributed to the poet of Saroug. He identified 42 collections specifically Sarougans, divided them into families and sub-families and enriched this work with tables, indexes and an analytical bibliography. Thanks to this meticulous and rich work in discoveries, the author was able to correct, revise and complete the data collected by many researchers who preceded him in this field.
The Arabic translation of some inventoried homilies, dating back to the 12th century, is older than the Syriac original published by Paul Bedjan. It could thus be a valuable source for Syriac critical editions of Sarougian works.
