A rich selection of studies on the Yiddish language and culture. In recent years, Poland has become, alongside the USA, Israel and Germany, an important center of Yiddish studies. Due to the centuries-old and rich heritage of Polish Jews, this should not be surprising. This development, however, is a unique phenomenon, considering the many years of neglect in this field and the departure of the generation of scholars born before World War II for whom Yiddish was their native language. The published works of twenty-eight contemporary researchers, representing various disciplines, continue previous achievements and at the same time propose new threads and approaches. What unites historians, literary scholars, cultural experts and linguists is the Yiddish language as a tool and subject of research. The book invites you to further searches in the increasingly better recognized, but still not fully explored, space of Yiddishland.
