Interdisciplinary reflection on the connections between literature and various art forms—music, cinema, visual arts, etc.—has long been an important component of literary studies. Until recently, research on the interactions between literature and the visual arts was dominated by a multitude of analyses devoted primarily to the connections between literature and painting, and to the issue of ekphrasis. The book is organized to present, in three autonomous yet conversant chapters, various mechanisms that allow for the construction of interdisciplinary relationships between photography and literature.
