Juris Plakis (1869-1942) was a Latvian teacher and linguist, Minister of Education (1920-1921), Professor of Philology. He and his son Ernest Plakis were the members of "Perkonkrusts" ((Thunder Cross), a Latvian ultra-nationalist and antisemitic political party founded in the 1930s. This group adapted fascist ideology to the situation in independent Latvia after 1918.)
