Hannes Walter was one of those Estonian historians who made a great contribution to the re-publication of our true history during the period of the weakening and final collapse of the Soviet occupation regime that began in the late 1980s. At that time, Walter wrote several new approaches to the War of Independence, skilfully using materials published between 1920 and 1940, and as a historian he had the opportunity to use sources published in Russia.
