The first edition of the book in Ukrainian was published in 2011 in Volodymyr-Volynskyi. The second (in English, translated by Marta Daria Oliynyk and with a foreword by Prof. Anthony Polonsky) - in the Boston publishing house Academic Studies Press in 2015. The book tells the story of one of the oldest and most numerous in Ukraine - the Jewish community of Vladimir Volynsky. Based on a large number of collected research materials and illustrations, the author talks about the peculiarities of social, economic and cultural conditions of society. The book contains eyewitness accounts of the greatest tragedy in the city's history - the death of about 22,000 Jews in the city. Separate sections are devoted to the heroes of the Ukrainian Righteous Among the Nations, who saved the doomed Jews, as well as the fate of the saved and the theme of preserving the memory of the Jewish community of the city.
