The monograph begins with an analysis of the development of the productive forces of the Urals in the context of mobilizing all resources to repel the enemy. An excursion into the history of the Ural economy allows us to understand how the defense-industrial complex of the region was formed, what models of production organization were used. A special place in the monograph is occupied by essays dedicated to war participants and home front workers - employees of the Institute of Economics of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In fact, based on their memories and documentary sources, a set of short intellectual biographies was created, reflecting the personal characteristics of each contribution both to the Victory and to the development of academic economic science in the Urals.
