The book is associated with a dramatic period in the history of the Kazakh people, shortly before the start of the February 1917 revolution. The uprising of the Kazakhs in 1916 was one of the last major uprisings in Central Asia at the beginning of the 20th century before the collapse of the tsarist empire as a reaction to the tsarist decree on the mobilization of Kazakhs and other peoples of Central Asia for logistical work during the First World War. The book is based on unique archival documents that contained information about this uprising. Some of these rare documents are of great collectible value.
