This is the first publication of memoirs by C.B.Chirkin (1875-1943), a diplomat of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Empire, who served in the Oriental countries (Persia, India, Korea). The influence of Russia in these countries at the beginning of the XXth century, revolutionary developments in Turkestan, the author’s escape from the country in 1920 and life of his family in emigration in Korea – all this is reflected in his notes provided for publication by the author’s son.
