This publication is based on transcripts of Sergei Eisenstein's lectures, discovered by Soso Dumbadze in the National Archives of Georgia (Department of Literature and Art, Fond 218, Inventory 1, Case 12), in the personal Archive of Konstantin Pipinashvili, who graduated from Eisenstein's workshop at VGIK in 1936. Transcripts were kept different people, so the recordings are of very different quality. The publisher tried to keep the features of the text as fully as possible.
