What does it mean to be an “Arab” in France? Who are these people: immigrants or equal members of the society? How do they identify themselves? What problems do they face living in a European society? Should one fear an “arab” getting on a subway train and suspect all young Maghrebs of being connected with Islamite organizations? Who are the people, who showed themselves during the street disorders in autumn 2005? Can we call them “Arabs” at all? The author of the present book conducted a research and tried to answer the questions concerning life of Maghrebs in France. He tried to cover all the aspects of life and problems, which Maghreb immigrants have to face: from citizenship and equality to terrorism and blending of cultures.
