The film is "a form that thinks," as director Jean-Luc Godard has noted. The composition of images and sounds can articulate certain ideas, but also reflect the material, formal and narrative elements that shape the medium of film. But does thinking through film survive in the digital and post-film age? The Thinking Through Film project focuses on the ways in which contemporary audiovisual art not only shifts the language of film, but also returns it to its roots.
