The book is called "The mouths of front-line soldiers" and is a documentary project dedicated to the stories of Gomel veterans who defended our homeland on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War.
"Ustami frontovikov" is a book whose idea was born from a city photo exhibition in 2014, dedicated to the day of the liberation of the city of Gomel from the Nazi invaders. The book was the result of Dmitry Chernyavskyi's ten-year work with local history materials and numerous interviews with veterans. In total, the book contains 128 stories of Gomel front-line veterans and unique photographs taken during interviews. These are soldiers, sergeants, officers, partisans and underground soldiers, nurses who rescued wounded soldiers under fire. These are people who currently live or previously lived in Gomel.
The author tried to choose the most emotional and exciting stories of veterans in order to present them to the audience. The stories of the exploits of Varvara Telushkina, Nikolai Kasperovich, Vladimir Shlyaev and Boris Afanasyev were narrated by Dmitry Chernyavsky in the form of quotes from the book and memories of meetings.
