The monograph is a part of the multivolume publication, the previous fi ve volumes of which came out in 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. In the fi rst part of the sixth volume, the issue of origin of the Denisovan taxon is reviewed. The beginning of formation of the Denisovans is connected with division of the late Homo heidelbergensis into two evolutionary lines – Homo neanderthalensis and Homo denisovan, which was stipulated by migration of the part
of Heidelbergians from the Near East to the east of Asia 400 (350) ka BP. On the Iranian Plateau and in Central Asia, where at that time the late Homo erectus carriers of pebble-fl ake industry were living, assimilation of migrants with the original
population occurred. As a result of these processes, a new taxon evolved ca 300 ka BP, which dispersed in Southern Siberia
(Denisova Cave). In the monograph, the Middle Paleolithic industry of the Denisovans in Altai and its transition into
the Upper Paleolithic industry are reviewed
