The collection produced in collaboration with the National Library of Estonia and Latvia, contains 25 + 25 essays by Estonian and Latvian humanities scholars, which examine in parallel important publications published for both societies between 1525 and 1918. The gripping essays written by experts provide an overview of the emergence and development of the native-language book, while at the same time reflecting the current state of research into our literary history.
Between the books, you can find a bookmark made from the covers of old books that tells the story of how the collection of essays was created. The collection was produced in collaboration with the National Library of Latvia, with the support of the Cultural Endowment of Estonia and the organizers of the Estonian Book Year.
