Translation from Chinese into Russian is part of the general theory of translation, therefore, the same requirements apply to it as for translation from any other language, such as the adequacy, fidelity and completeness of the transmission of the meaning and style of the original message, as well as correspondence to literary norm of Russian language. The fulfillment of these requirements is achieved through translation transformations characteristic of the translation of any language material, for example, lexical substitutions, changes in the grammatical order of words, etc.
At the same time, the translation from Chinese into Russian is also characterized by its own specific features. For example, the lack of inflection in the Chinese language and the poverty of suffix-prefix derivation complicate the process of grammatical analysis of the Chinese sentence, leading to frequent translation errors. This requires the development of skills to determine the grammatical functions of Chinese words, which requires the development of appropriate exercises. There are other problems associated with the differences between the Chinese and Russian languages, and such with the peculiarities of the perception of the Chinese text by native speakers of the Russian language. These translation problems and solutions are discussed in the book.
