The aim of the research presented in the monograph is to investigate the cases of the reality of conscience, encompassing its objective and subjective aspects, presented in the works of selected Lithuanian authors of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, emphasizing the correlation between conscience and worldview beliefs. It has been revealed that the differences in the depiction of conscience in literature were determined by the authors' worldview, value orientation, social origin, political and cultural processes that took place when writing the work, the influence of the literary movement, and the addressee.
