The issue concentrates upon semiotic study of historical text in its unity with theoretical and applied aspects. Historical narratives "History of Russia from the Ancient Time" by S.M.Solovyev, memoirs "What My Eyes Saw" by S.Povolotsky, as well as everyday way of life of Stavropol' and its archaic symbols are examined as texts. Furthermore, the authors analyze autobiography by Stavropol' artist A.E.Sokolenko and description of the way of life of the noted Stavropol' cultural and theatrical worker, B.M.Rozenfel'd, which enables together with the description of the city and the territory to characterize Stavropol' and the Stavropol Krai as a historically-conditioned, organized and self-organizing system.
