In her monograph, Edvarda Smite has not only carried out the maximum identification, research and presentation of Arturs Baumanis's clearly talented, diverse artistic heritage in the context of the era and our art history, but also delved into his personality, both allowing us to look into the joys and sorrows of childhood and youth, and revealing in reality the tragic path of self-destruction of a talented person. He was guided by a burning desire for "all or nothing". Aut Caesar, aut nihil! He failed to achieve everything. However, an overview of Arturs Baumanis's creative work provides reliable evidence that he was repeatedly the first or one of the first. His contribution to the depiction of Latvian ancient history is especially noteworthy. The artist sought to find and reproduce both our ancient heroes and the symbolic image of Latvia.
