The book is the first monographic research on the history of the Astrakhan Khanate (1502-1556), one of the states formed as the result of the collapse of the Golden Horde. As a consequence of an in-depth analysis of Russian, Oriental (Arabic, Turkic, Persian) and Western sources the date of the formation of the khanate is grounded and chronology of khans' rule is presented. Special attention is given to the study of the history of relations between the Astrakhan Khanate and the Moscow State as well as the Ottoman Empire.
