The publication of Suprasl canticles (part-song polyphonic works) of the end of the 17th century reveals a bright and hitherto unknown page of the church and musical history of the Suprasl Annunciation Monastery during its active life under the omophor of the Basilian order. Located at the intersection of Belarusian, Ukrainian and Polish religious cultures, the monastery played an important role in the perception and assimilation of Western innovations, while preserving the original basis of the liturgical, theological and musical practice of the Eastern rite.
