In 1898, in response to the military claims of Japan in Russia, an extensive shipbuilding program “For the needs of the Far East” was adopted, according to which, among other things, the construction of a whole series of the same type of squadron battleships began at St. Petersburg shipyards. All of them are directly associated with the Battle of Tsushima on May 14-15, 1905. This publication is dedicated to one of them - the squadron battleship
"Borodino". The first volume covers the events of 1897-1903 and tells in detail about the motives for adopting the "Far Eastern" program and the choice of a battleship prototype for the Pacific squadron. The second volume covers the events of the end of 1903–1904 and tells in detail about the completion of the Borodino battleship, its entry into service, the campaign as part of the 2nd squadron of the Pacific Fleet to the Far East, and the tragic fate of the ship in the Battle of Tsushima.
