The scientific novelty of the peer-reviewed work is determined by its focus on creating a linguistic and cultural concept of the sociolect of the Ukrainian Galician intelligentsia not only as a result of literary and journalistic use of the Ukrainian language, but also as a factor in forming norms of Ukrainian literary language in Eastern Galicia in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries; for the reconstruction of the sociolect of the Ukrainian Galician intelligentsia based on the created language portraits of representatives of its various professional groups - teachers, writers, publicists, church and public figures; to substantiate the conclusion that the developed language system forms its normative base the more fully, the wider the linguistic and linguistic-cultural space for the choice of norm.
