The monograph is the result of long-term cooperation of the Institute of Geography of the Slovak Academy of Sciences on pan-European CORINE land cover (CLC) projects. Its aim is to present methods of identification, analysis and evaluation of Slovakia's land cover and its changes in 1990, 2000, 2006 and 2012 using satellite images, to further document examples of solving Slovakia's environmental problems based on CLC data, e.g. land fragmentation and the abandonment of agricultural land, as well as the future of their further generation. This unique publication provides an insight into the dynamics of natural and man-made objects over a period of more than 20 years through original maps, graphs and tables. The book is intended mainly for researchers and students in the field of geosciences, geoinformatics, spatial planning, environmental studies, as well as other experts who are interested in the country of Slovakia, its changes and development.
