The work of the renowned Slovak herald brings closer the Byzantine origin of the double cross, its pre-heraldic development period, as well as its later important position in the royal symbolism of medieval Hungary and later also in the state symbolism of the Habsburg Monarchy. He particularly notes its relationship to Slovakia, the process that made it a generally accepted symbol of Upper Hungary - Slovakia in the 18th century and subsequently the Slovak national coat of arms. It shows how, from 1848, the representatives of the national movement expressed each of their political state-law projects with a certain heraldic idea of their existence in a multinational state entity. It follows the highlighting of Slovak symbolism also on the battle flags and insignia of the Czechoslovak legions and the extraordinary contribution of Milan Rastislav Stefanik to the creation of the symbolism of the first Czechoslovak resistance.
