The monograph summarizes and systematizes archaeological material collected over 50 years of research on the Shaiginsky settlement - a reference monument of the Jurchen state of East Xia (1215-1233). The characteristic of the monument is given. It fortification, internal layout and stratigraphy. A comprehensive analysis of the Jurchen housing construction is presented with the subsequent identification of sources of origin, characteristics and level of its development. The internal topography of the monument the peculiarity of their development, the typology of estates is traced. On the basis of archaeological sources and ethnographic data the reconstruction of dwellings, outbuildings and public administration buildings has been done. The constructive methods used in construction of the Jurchen buildings are revealed. The classification of dwellings is given, the question of the origin of the heating system is considered. The reconstruction of residential and administrative architecture and its individual elements has been done. Identified social significant areas on the monument, which once again confirm its administrative functions. An analysis of the data obtained is reliable evidence that the Shaiginsky settlement was built during the formation and existence of the Jurchen state of East Xia (1215—1233), which was created to protect against the Mongol invasion. It was erected according to a predetermined, strictly defined plan and has its ow specific features. Shaiginsky fortification is a medieval city with a large population and at the same time a large administrative cent' with the status of a district city.
