The author of the book is the leading researcher of the Department of Central Asian countries of the Institute of Oriental Studies, doctor of philosophy, associate professor Rauf Garayev, the scientific editor is the general director of the Institute of Oriental Studies, academician Govhar Bakhshaliyeva.
In the monograph, security problems in the Central Asian region were systematically studied for the first time in Azerbaijani science and literature. This is related to the great geopolitical and geostrategic importance of the modern Central Asian region. The establishment and development of relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Central Asian region and the independent states in this region, the strategy and tactics of such development, the scientific determination of the regularities occurring in this process, and as a result of this, putting forward certain proposals are among the tasks facing Azerbaijan's public science. Also, the results of the scientific study and research of the processes taking place in the modern Central Asian region can be used for more effective practical activities of the relevant bodies (for example, diplomatic bodies) and institutions of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The book consists of introduction, 3 chapters, conclusion and bibliography. The first chapter provides information about the concepts of "Middle Asia" and "Central Asia", the importance of ensuring the security of the modern Central Asian states for Azerbaijan is discussed. In the second chapter, threats and challenges to security in modern Central Asian countries are discussed and their classification is given. The third chapter examines the security strategy in modern Central Asia.
