The book by the Russian sinologist is dedicated to the history of the Far Eastern emigration, development of its public institutions and culture. The author narrates about difficult period of 1925-1932, when the emigration was under the USSR pressure, permanent Soviet-Chinese conflicts on the Chinese Eastern Railway during 1925-1929, and survived the occupation of Chinese Northeast (Manchuria) by Japan. Based on memoirs and the press, supplied with unique photographs from numerous private collections and editions of that time, the book reflects the color and specificity of that epoch.
