The first Russian comics emerged in Yugoslavia during the 1930s–40s, within the milieu of Russian White émigrés — veterans of the Civil and the First World War. Graphic novels created by Russian artists were translated into several languages and republished across Europe, yet they gained no recognition in Soviet Russia due to political censorship.
Volumes I and II of the collection "Russian Comics, 1935–1945" consisted of works based on Russian classical literature, while Volume III is devoted to the world classics familiar since childhood. This volume comprises ten comics, including three original graphic novels by Konstantin Kuznetsov, the continuation of Sergey Solovyov’s "The devil’s apprentice", and a new issue of "K³" prepared by the publishing house’s editorial team.
