The book provides the history of Jewish agricultural colonization of the southern part of the Russian Empire (modern territory of Ukraine) which began in 1807-1809. It traces the fate of Jewish agricultural colonies of Kherson Province in the pre-revolutionary and Soviet time till the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, and studies the genealogy of agricultural Jews.
