The book is a unique work by collectors of Dolgan folklore, combining almost all genres of oral folklore of the Dolgan people of the Khatanga tundra. Most of the tales and stories, preserved as rare examples of folklore of the northern peoples, are published for the first time. The works were collected and recorded from famous Dolgan storytellers in the villages of Khatanga, Katyryk, Kheta, Zhdanikha, Kresty, Novorybnoye, Syndassko, Popigai in the 80-90s of the twentieth century by folklore specialists of the Khatanga Center of Folk Art Antonina Alekseyevna Suzdalova and Irina Alekseyevna Laptukova. The collection includes more than 150 works of folklore in the Dolgan and Russian languages.
