A collective monograph by authors from the Faculty of Arts at the Charles University discusses Wagner's infamous work, Jewishness in Music, and more generally, the socio-political aspects of the performance of Wagner's operas. The individual chapters present different contextualizations of Wagner's writings, the composer's person as well as questions related to the performance and reception of his operas. The setting in the context of contemporary philosophy and German romanticism, the connection with other Wagnerian writings, the issue of presenting Wagnerian operas in the State of Israel, or the revision of generally accepted ideas about the caricatures of Jews in Wagner's supreme musical work, The Ring of the Nibelung, are not left aside. Each of these chapters attempts to problematize some of the important aspects of the "Wagner and the Jews" case, without striving for a clear solution. The editors and authors aimed primarily at correcting some experienced stereotypes and defining the problem more precisely.
