The current object of the research studies entirely the resettlement policy of the Russian Empire within the period of the research and fills one of the most important gaps in the historical and demographic research of the history of Azerbaijan. Having occupied the Northern Azerbaijan in the first third of the XIXth century the Russian Empire pursued an intentional resettlement policy populating the region with the Germans, the Armenians and etc. As a result of the resettlement policy of the Russian Empire in the Northern Azerbaijan ethno-confessional changes occurred in the population of the Northern Azerbaijan at the end of the XIXth century and in the beginning of the XXth century.
