A nostalgic journey rises from the pen of prof. Louis C. Jonker on his own remembrance and longing for the teachers who helped shape him, his own awakening as biblical scholar, and his ministry in the DRC. He also explores his inner struggle in these various periods. The result of this is a mixture of historical novels, biography, personal memoirs and the academic writings of prof. Ferdinand Deist, Bishop John Colenso, prof. Johannes du Plessis and also Jonker's. The narratives - which sometimes border on playful fantasy - are interspersed in the book with elaborate excerpts from subject literature by, and over, the four interlocutors. Eventually Jonker makes important comments on the current state of Bible interpretation in South Africa.
