The recommendations set out the methodology for forecasting radioactive contamination of crop and livestock products as a result of the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. The measures for plant growing, field and meadow forage production on radionuclide-contaminated arable and meadow lands, including the peculiarities of the cultivation of agricultural crops for food, fodder and technical purposes, soil treatment, the use of lime ameliorants, organic, mineral fertilizers and micronutrients, are given.
The features of livestock farming in conditions of radioactive contamination, including the production of milk, beef, pork, lamb and horse meat, the features of feeding cattle and optimization of the feed base, taking into account international requirements for the content of 137 Cs in meat, are formulated. The features of the production of crop and livestock products in personal subsidiary farms of citizens living in the territory of radioactive contamination are given. The modern requirements for radiation safety in agricultural production, sanitary and hygienic measures are stated.
