Ivan Bahrianyi (1906—1963; real name — Lozoviahin) is a Ukrainian writer who suffered the brutality of Stalinist repressions. The artist was imprisoned, exiled to the Far East, then emigrated. Only after his death was he rehabilitated, he became a laureate of the Shevchenko Prize in 1992, and his books began to be republished in Ukraine.
