The book is devoted to a scientific field common to political science, geopolitics, and political geography: beginning, development and functioning of geographic forms in politics and international relations. The author considers methodological bases of geographic forms applicable in politics and international relations, describes in detail the structures of geopolitical areas. Special attention is drawn to the strategies of representation and interpretation of geographic forms in the present-day politics. The examples are derived from different historical epochs: Central Asia of the second half of the XIXth century, political partition of Europe after World War II, geopolitical forms of Russia at the end of the XXth century.
