This is a book by our compatriot, a well-known linguist, folklorist, literary critic, founder of the scholarly study of the Ukrainian language, Oleksandr Potebnia. It covers a whole complex of phenomena that make up the philosophy of language. The author explores the creative process as an endless series of transformations in the human mind of objective information on the way from the original image, often folklore, to its interpretation in a poetic work, in particular in a fable.
