At the beginning of the 2000s from the ruins of the destroyed zone in the village of Kuchino, a public museum of the history of political repressions was created, founded by Viktor Shmyrov and Tatyana Kursina. A few years ago, officials decided to make the museum state and expel the creators. The book by Andrey Nikitin is a chronicle of the destruction of the Perm-36 museum, written by an eyewitness to these events.
Perm-36 as a classic GULAG camp was born in 1946. He was one of three camps in the territory of the Molotov region. From 1953 to 1972, the camp became the so-called “red zone” - law enforcement officers who committed criminal offenses were kept here. In 1972, convicts for state crimes began to be sent to the colony. From 1972 to 1987, 1001 prisoners were held in three camps in the Perm Region.
