Almost 30 years since the fall of communism, the personality of Patriarch Kiril remains shrouded in silence. He seems to be more revered by the grateful Jews, for whose rescue he struggled during World War II, than by his own Orthodox Christian community. A man of indisputable merit for the Jews, Kiril is still in the realm of rumor for Bulgarian Orthodox Christians, and there have been very few in-depth studies on him.
