The author says "My wish is to make the facts known either through personal awareness as a direct observer and with the help of indisputable documents or by giving the word to participants in these events regardless of which side of the barricade they stand: or "people who have opposed" the "living-life"; whether they are from the ruling nomenclature class in the "real socialist society" or as champions of "modern democratic parliamentary society" have been opposed to the totalitarian state. That is why I present the events not only on a chronological principle but also on the character and public sphere of opposition: a) against the collapse of socialist ideals and in defence of justice (as "anti-party activity"); b) as an organized political opposition to the system (as "dissidence"), generally framing them in the period 1956-1989."
