The offered collection represents economic and sociological conceptions of regional development during the economic transition of the 1990's. This problem is analyzed through the prism of social adaptation to the changing practice of economy. The adaptation of economic institutions is examined on the regional and some branch levels. The adaptation of social institutions is analyzed through studying models of life sustenance that are formed in families. Special attention is paid to gender aspects.
