The book is dedicated to one of the most unique in the preservation archaeological sites of Eastern Crimea — ancient fortress Iluraton of the first centuries AD. Since the early nineteenth century it has traditionally investigated by Russian scientists, and therefore it is directly connected with the history of native archaeology. The author tells by fascinating way about the famous archaeologists who conducted the study of Iluraton and their discoveries. He pays special attention to the last decades of excavations of the city-fortress, complementing their own memories about the fifteen field seasons held here.
