This publication is devoted to the analysis of the "informational society" building in European countries, EC and Russia. It sheds light on the problems of elaboration of Russian version of multilingual polythematic information retrieval thesauri. This kind of thesauri are supposed to be actual tools of information search in integrated databases which have become widely acceptable because of intensive development of information and communication technologies.
