Mukhametsalim Ishmukhametovich Umetbaev (1841-1907) was a Bashkir educator, Bashkir and Tatar poet, translator, philologist, ethnographer, public figure, publicist, researcher, author of several Russian-Tatar dictionaries, grammar of the Tatar language, poems and essays. He played a big role in the development of the Tatar literary language, the development of its grammar, in the education of the Tatars and Bashkirs.
