Matthias Kalin of Jathenstein (1772-1848) was a lawyer, dean of the Faculty of Law of Charles University and archaeologist, one of the founders of Czech archeology, a philanthropist. For the first time in Czech archeology, we come across a new, translated and annotated edition of one of its "cornerstones", a work that stood at the birth of archaeological knowledge, not wrongly compared to the first volumes of Palacky's History and Safarik's Slavic Antiquities.
