The book describes the international and military-political situation of the Ukrainian hetmanate, led by I. Mazepa, I. Skoropadsky, and P. Orlik during the pan-European Northern War of 1700–1721. Particular attention was paid to the distortion of memory of these events by order and participation of Tsar Peter I in the historiography of the Russian Empire of the eighteenth century. The political situation in the Right Bank, Left Bank and Zaporizhia Ukraine is characterized by military actions and diplomatic relations between the Swedish Kingdom and the Moscow Kingdom, as well as the Commonwealth, the Ottoman Empire and the Crimean Khanate. The Ukrainian-Swedish relations are analyzed, as well as the sources of writing during the mentioned war a significant monument of political and legal thought - "Covenants and Constitutions of the Laws and Liberties of the Zaporozhian Army" of 1710.
