This correspondence started with the interview-preface written for the book "Vaimu paik". The correspondence between Jaan Kaplinski and Tonu Onnepalu is an enjoyable read. Kaplinski says in one of his letters that what he likes most in literature is what can be called intelligent chatter: "Perhaps this kind of intelligent chatter is also something that helps us to swim in the waves of the sea of life without drowning, and maybe even walk on these waves, as some have done."
