The author unfolds the history of formation and development of one of the first Russian settlements of the Kamchatka Peninsula - Klyuchi Village. Founded in the early 1740s in the centre of the peninsula, it turned into one of the principal economic centers of Kamchatka. The publication was written on the basis of documents from the collections of the Russian State Historical Archive, the State Archive of the Kamchatka Region, the Center of Documentation of the Newest History, materials of the State Historical Library, S.P.Krasheninnikov Regional Library and publications of regional periodicals.
