The Baltic Institute of Folklore (BIF) was founded in 1995 by the academic folkloristic institutions of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The reader is offered the journal issued by BIF and published twice a year. It reflects BIF main task to promote and coordinate folklore studies and research in the Baltics and to develop ties with institutions and individuals interested in the subject outside the Baltic region. Scholarly studies of folklore, substantive articles and book reviews are included in the edition.
